The Lord’s Prayer

VICAR

The ladies and gentlemen of this fine publication have given me free rein over Sundays. Instead of attempting to add to the slew of stories in the Sunday newspapers, Country Squire Magazine has decided to reinforce Sunday as a day of rest and, should readers be so inclined, a content catch-up day.

Each week I shall be publishing something prayerful on which you can choose, or choose not, to reflect. I have been told not to publish my sermons as the magazine has banned all preaching and, in any case, they are likely to send you into a deep sleep.

So, what better way to start my contributions to this promising new magazine than with The Lord’s Prayer. I wish you a blessed and restful Sunday and a most excellent week to follow.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

  1. ‘Give us this day our daily bread’……and forgive us our trespasses. You missed a line?
