BY RUCHIRA GHOSH
Just a tiny little world
So replete with meaning
Everyone desires peace
Men, women, children
Birds & animals seek peace
In their own little ways
There is peace in humming of bees
Murmuring of brooks, rivulets
Snowy clouds in the azure sky
Usher in a sense of peace
A walk through a forest glade
Midst profuse greenery & foliage
Evokes serenity and peace
The snow crested peaks
Solemn & unmoving down the ages
Depict peace in nature
Yet my heart is tinged with sadness
I ponder: Is there peace in today’s world?
The fabric of peace is torn asunder
By cruel, thoughtless men
Who crave for glory & power
Nations threaten other nations
Fear of nuclear holocaust grips us
Terrorists slay innocent people
Thousands of lives are lost
Fumes of explosives fill the air
The ground beneath our feet
Reeks of blood and gore
Men die bloody, gruesome deaths
Infants snatched from mothers’ breasts
Happy homes razed to the ground
Cries of orphans & destitute rent the air
What did we do to deserve this?
The time is now, no more hatred
PEACE
Let us join hands, work for peace
Let there never again be
Hiroshima or Nagasaki
Life has changed, but the scars remain…
No more warplanes, let doves fly in the sky
Let flags of terror yield place
To white flags of peace
Let the air be filled with fragrance
Of Lilies, Roses, Tube Roses
Let peace prevail…..
