Prayer for the Homeless

VICAR

Dear Country Squire Readers, I hope You and Your families are well and healthy.

It is at this time of year, when the days shorten and the temperature drops, that we should remember those who have no home. The numbers of rural and urban homeless are rising. The pressures on them at this time of year are very serious.  Especially with Christmas around the corner, which the destitute tend to fear as they have no-one to celebrate it with.

It’s not only in the UK that homelessness is a problem. We should look abroad and see the masses of people made homeless after the recent hurricanes and other natural disasters.

Today let us pray for the homeless. Below is a prayer which, if You have time, I would encourage You to read.

Have a great Sunday and a splendid week to come.

Almighty and most merciful God,
we remember before you all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget:
the homeless and the destitute,
the old and the sick, and all who have none to care for them.
Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow into joy.
Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
