A Prayer for the Ailing

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and healthy. In case You are not, or know of someone who is ailing, below is a prayer for You or them.

A fortnight ago a local couple’s 3-year-old daughter died, and we are all thinking about them. It has shocked the local area so much. It has somewhat bound us all together stronger.

Last week one of CSM’s readers sent a tweet asking me if God created the earth then who created God. Similarly readers could ask if there is a God then why should he allow a 3-year-old girl to die suddenly and thus cause heartbreak and misery for her family?

If I knew the answers to these questions, I would be a very powerful man. So, in answer to the tweeting reader I shall answer honestly and say that I do not know. But read Mere Christianity by CS Lewis. Does God exist? If you want to know, investigate Jesus Christ. We’re told that “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Have a splendid Sunday and a great week to come. God Bless.

Dear Jesus,

Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick,

we turn to You in this time of illness.

O dearest Comforter of the Troubled,

alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love,

and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden.

Dear God,

we place our worries in Your hands.

We ask that You restore Your servant to health again.

Above all,

grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will

and know that whatsoever You do,

You do for the love of us.
