A Prayer for Women

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You and Your loved ones are well. Today is Mothering Sunday – a day when We honour mothers and mother churches, celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent since the Middle Ages. On Mothering Sunday, Christians have historically visited their mother church—the church in which they received the sacrament of baptism.

So for this week’s prayer I’d like to focus on women – on the wives, mothers, grandmothers, daughters and granddaughters out there – who make up just less than half our population on this planet. I’d particularly like to remember Sarah Everard this week, who was recently murdered. Let us hold her family and boyfriend in our thoughts.

It’s sad that these days one has to be really careful with what one says. So as not to upset any women I just say God Bless You All. I wish all of You – men and women – a wonderful Sunday and peaceful and prosperous week ahead. Hopefully the rain is not too much of a spoiler for Your plans. Certainly the rugby yesterday was not! So, here is the message for all women:

You are unique in God’s kingdom. There is no one like you.

No one has the talents, skills, and abilities that you have. No one has the experience that you have. No one can do the things that you can do. No one can achieve the destiny that God has for your life – except you.

And no one can replace you in God’s heart. No one could ever be so special to God that God wouldn’t still yearn for your company.

You are incredibly important to God. You are adorable and treasured in God’s sight.

God loves you just the way you are. God thinks you are awesome, yet God is eager to help you become even more – more joyful, more contented, more mature, and more blessed. You are uniquely qualified and prepared for each day, because God is living in you and you are living inside God’s love.
