A Prayer for the Suffering

VICAR

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You and Your families are well. By now You are likely to be getting used to the daily grind after the Christmas break. Soon it will be Easter!

This week I’d like to think of those who are suffering.

2 Corinthians 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Everyone needs a little help sometimes. After all, no one is meant to go through life alone. For Christians, that’s first and foremost where God comes in — He’s always by your side. But after God, comes you. For some people, that could mean volunteering with a local charity or donating to a good cause. For others, sharing blessings might be as simple as having an uplifting conversation with someone or lending emotional support to a friend who is going through a tough time.

We should be reminded as God’s followers that one crucial way to demonstrate your love for the Lord is to take action here on Earth and lend a helping hand. Bringing the Lord’s love into your community is a powerful act. It may not always be easy, but as a person of faith, God calls upon you to serve others and bring His light to them. In many ways, the act of being charitable is a reward in itself — but many of these verses note that God will reward your efforts to share his blessings.

I wish You all a wonderful week ahead and urge You if You are suffering to seek out help. God Bless You all.

Lord our God, we thank you that we are allowed to live in your love. We thank you for your promise that all the suffering on earth shall come to an end. Hear us when we turn to you with all we have on our hearts. We are weak, but you are strong. May we hope and trust in your strength. May our life, with all its practical concerns, remain in your hands until the day when you will act in might and the whole world will know the forgiveness of sins and will praise and thank you ever more. Amen.
