The Liberal Democrats are an enigma.
They surprised the nation by producing some competent ministers for the coalition government of 2010-2015. The likes of Danny Alexander and David Laws stepped up to the plate and Norman Lamb showed impressive grasp and empathy.
Now, under Tim Farron, they have turned into the go-to Brexit protest party and – with 109 Peers in the House of Lords – seem set to be the main thorn in the side of Theresa May’s government as they seek to disrupt Brexit at every given opportunity.
Can they become the main party of opposition? Can they one day even become the stand-alone Government?
