A Prayer for the World

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are keeping well in these strangest of days. I hope that Your families are well and that You have managed to form a social bubble with someone if You are feeling lonely.

It is easy to watch the news and think that the world is going to hell in a handcart. If it’s not Covid, it’s people breaking lockdown rules and protesting violently. There have been border clashes between China and India, while tensions between North and South Korea are stoked high. It is easy to become despondent and give up on the outside world, retreating into the peace and sanctity of one’s own home. Yet for some home is also a place of strife and stress as relationships fail and debts mount.

It is too easy to see life through a negative prism. It takes faith, hope and love to see life through a positive prism and prayer can help You get to that place of calm and happiness.

This week I would like You to please pray for those parts of the world whose peoples are losing their heads. I wish You and Your families well. God Bless You all and have a peaceful Sunday – an enjoyable father’s day for You fathers – and a positive week ahead.

O God, who would fold both heaven and earth in a single peace:
let the design of thy great love

lighten upon the waste of our wraths and sorrows:
and give peace to thy Church,
peace among nations,

peace in our dwellings,
and peace in our hearts:
through thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ.
