A Prayer for Help

VICAR

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine I trust that You are healthy and in fine fettle. I trust That Your loved ones are well also and that You are all making good use of time. Time is so precious. Live time well.

This week I’d like to draw Your attention to asking for help.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

We are not alone.

Please let Him in.

As we address our problems this Sunday and write our To Do lists for the coming week, we should reach out to Jesus for assistance. Just open the door in Your lives to Him and You will receive assistance. You just need faith, hope and love.

Getting through life’s issues without Jesus seems impossible to me. So, try. You will not regret it. Do not expect a sudden revelation or white dove descending from heaven. Still, do look for signs.

I was once with a grieving brother and sister. They asked for a sign that their beloved sister, who had died just weeks before, was in a good place. A man carrying bundles of roses to a florist got out of a van and walked past us on the street. The smell of roses was heavenly as the man walked by. We looked at each other and we smiled.

Between them and us is just a fine line. Remember that. So, don’t try everything by Yourself. Ask assistance. Have a wonderful week ahead. And God Bless You All.

Dear God,

We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we’ve carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. We reach out to you, and know that you are restoring and redeeming every place of difficulty, every battle, for your greater glory. Thank you that you will never waste our pain and suffering. We love you. We need you today.

Amen
