A Prayer for Prince Philip

VICAR

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You and Your loved ones are keeping well. I am sure You are looking forward to getting a haircut over coming days. Finally, it seems our imprisonment is coming to an end! Let us pray that our freedom returns and stays.

This week it would be amiss of me not to focus on the life and death of the Queen’s husband. The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip led an extraordinary life. Only bitter, fringe characters are ignoring or complaining about the current celebration of his 99 years – let them learn to love themselves.

The Church of England has compiled a PDF with which to remember Prince Philip’s life and achievements which can be accessed here. It is well worth a look and brings into perspective Philip’s long and colourful life full of troughs and peaks. He was a very special man indeed.

At times like these We come to remember how human We all are. It does not matter one’s power or wealth. At the end of our days our human form returns to dust. We should not fear death, rather see it as a new chapter in our lives. Back to the present, We should seriously consider how We are spending our time on Earth.

God Bless You all. Have a peaceful Sunday and a good week ahead.

God of our lives,
We give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,
for his love of our country,
and for his devotion to duty.
We entrust him now to your love and mercy,
through our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Amen.
