BY JOHN NASH
Anxieties offer potential to the unscrupulous and one of the UK’s most unscrupulous exploiters of the fictitious “imaginary evil hunter causing species extinction” is Eduardo Gonçalves and his “Ban Trophy Hunting” company. He feeds the extinction-anxious, the media and politicians alike with a constant stream of displacement nonsense and his hysterical “revelations” about the sins of the imaginary evil hunter. Quite openly and deceitfully, he paints real trophy hunters with his effluent. His dishonest but no doubt profitable campaign is welcome ambrosia to the lost, hungry minds of the extinction-anxious and convinces them that their sick displacement psychopathy is magnificent, normal moral concern. He thus reinforces their delusions and the stronger those delusions, the more important and profitable Gonçalves’ propaganda becomes.
In turn, one of the most prominent and seriously deluded victims of Gonçalves’ mischief is Sir Roger Gale, MP, probably the UK’s most stupid man, and I say that out of kindness, as I shall explain shortly. This fool actually stood up in the second reading of the Bill to ban the Importation of Hunting Trophies and said,
“(Trophy hunting)… is gratification of the most revolting kind that I would compare with paedophilia.”
He actually suggested that trophy hunting, a perfectly lawful, ancient and normal human activity, is on a par with paedophilia! Apart from the fact that he should have been immediately challenged by the gutless Members dozing around him or indeed by the Speaker for using such potty mouth hate-speech, he again demonstrated both his total ignorance of hunting and his serious displacement illness.
This nasty, addled old man actually likened trophy hunters to paedophiles. Quite apart from being spiteful and idiotic, it is an outrageous thing for him to say, for two reasons. The first is on his own website, where he says:
“What is out of order, and the reason for much Parliamentary if not public condemnation is the use, by a senior politician… of populist language bordering on hate-speech that is either deliberately or carelessly designed to foment discord or, at best, to shock”.
What a hypocrite.
The second is that false accusations of sexual deviance are inappropriate coming from Gale, who, in July 2021, was one of five Conservative MPs found by the Commons Select Committee on Standards to have breached the code of conduct by trying to influence a judge in the trial of former Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke, who was found guilty of not one but three counts of sexual assault and sentenced to two years in prison.
He who lives in a grubby little glass house, Sir Roger…..
Gale is also the muppet who called President Masisi “a corrupt vandal” for resuming limited sustainable hunting in Botswana, earning himself this furious rebuke from that country’s Deputy Permanent Secretary:
“Such a frivolous, irresponsible and emotive use of language to attack the integrity of the Botswana Government’s sovereign decision-making, is an act of deliberate abuse…”
Gale suffers even more deranged confusion. In an online debate, Gale said:
“We in Parliament receive spurious messages acting on behalf of trophy hunting organisations that pretend their communities are in some way benefitting”.
He reinforced the point on Facebook:
“Trophy hunting doesn’t contribute to conservation – that is a lie … a smokescreen used by the hunting fraternity”. Translation: “Africans lie – ignore them, they are just uppity natives in the pay of the evil hunter and don’t know any better”.
Gale should know – he has been to an African donkey sanctuary and once patted an anaesthetised lion cub in a sanctuary for fun – for no obvious medical purpose. He actually met Nelson Mandela who, according to his local paper “he puts in the same category as Gandhi or Christ” and has displayed a picture of Madiba on his office wall for twenty years, out of sheer admiration.

Really? Well, here’s another photo for your office, Sir Roger, you gormless halfwit….

It is Nelson Mandela, just after he shot a blesbok for sport (he didn’t need the food, see). The late President had a passionate interest in environmental issues and the benefits of innovative approaches to conservation (like sustainable sport and trophy hunting in South Africa). President Mandela was neither a hunting liar nor an uppity trophy hunting industry stooge, Sir Roger.
Need I go on?
There’s plenty more, but I called Sir Roger Gale the most stupid man in the UK because any alternative reason for his illogical and deliberate hatred would be far, far worse. His hypocrisy is on speed. Purposefully associating an identifiable group of innocent, law abiding people with the term paedophilia is blatant hate-speech and, ominously, the first step that leads close to the child-killing blood libel used by the Nazis to demonise Jews in the late 1930’s.
Ignoring African opinion about Africa is simply racist.
This “imaginary evil hunter” nonsense has gone on for far too long and it has now gone too far. It is time for hunters and country people to close ranks with cancelled rural Africans and call loudly for hunters, mankind’s oldest and most honourable providers, to be protected against hate-speech.
And that’s why I call you a stupid bigot, Sir Roger. You’re a frustrated old thesp, not an ecologist. Speaking on the floor of the House is not the same as Herne Bay am-dram. This is serious. A pointless ban on global trophy imports will end up killing millions of animals and a lot of very poor, very voiceless people in Africa. Wake up you old fart.
John Nash grew up in West Cornwall and was a £10 pom to Johannesburg in the early 1960’s. He started well in construction project management, mainly high-rise buildings but it wasn’t really Africa, so he went bush, prospecting and trading around the murkier bits of the bottom half of the continent. Now retired back in Cornwall among all the other evil old pirates. His interests are still sustainable resources, wildlife management and the utilitarian needs of rural Africa.
