After launching the Country Squire Magazine Christmas Competition on November 29th we received hundreds of suggestions of beaches. Some as far away as Northumberland and some as preposterous as Rackwick on the Island of Hoy.
Despite so many guesses, no-one actually guessed the correct beach – Salcombe Regis Beach in East Devon.
It’s down 145 steps. At the bottom of the steps is an overturned boat. On the East side of the beach you will find nudists in the summer, as one of our writers discovered one hot day last summer when his five year old son rudely disturbed a relaxing sunbathe with, “Dada, that man is not wearing any knickers”.
Past the nudists and over a few rocks is Weston Mouth Beach, which was the suggestion of one reader – Chris Cafferty.
So, in the spirit of giving and generosity characteristic of this season, we declare Chris Cafferty as our inaugural Christmas Competition Winner. Many congratulations to Chris, who we have contacted to arrange delivery of a mouth-watering 20 litres of Devon Red Cider from Sandford Orchards in Crediton.
Here at Country Squire Magazine we raise a glass to you all and we’re sure Chris will raise a tankard many times to you all also while gulping back delicious cider. We’d like to thank all readers for taking part. And once again wish you a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy 2017.
