A Prayer for Syria

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I wish You a peaceful and joyous Sunday.

This Sunday I would like You to pray for those Christians who are being persecuted around the world, particularly in the Middle East.

There is little one can achieve greater than dying for one’s faith. Nonetheless the current situation throughout the Middle East is horrific and brutal. Families are being split apart by radical Islamists and we tend to too easily forget the recent deaths of Coptic Christians in relatively peaceful places like Egypt.

I wish You a pleasant and memorable Sunday. Have a good week ahead.

Lord of the church, we pray for your blessing on our sisters and brothers in Jesus Christ in the churches of Syria and in the Middle East. Uphold and sustain them.

Keep them faithful to Jesus in the face of persecution, opposition, tragedy and turmoil.

May they know the power of your Holy Spirit to be your people in, and for, their land and nation.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ the foundation and cornerstone of your holy church.
