VICAR
Dear Country Squire Magazine Readers, I trust I find You well and Your families healthy. I wish You all an excellent and peaceful Sunday as always. This time of year is stressful and it’s easy to adopt a tunnel vision, midst darkness and rain, towards Christmas. Remember that You are alive! Remember how our lives are so much easier in so many ways than those who went before us. Try not to get too caught up in the maelstrom that money causes.
Today I leave You with a prayer from one of the early church leaders, Augustine.
I wish You a happy and fulfilling week ahead.
Look upon us, O Lord,
and let all the darkness of our souls
vanish before the beams of thy brightness.
Fill us with holy love,
and open to us the treasures of thy wisdom.
All our desire is known unto thee,
therefore perfect what thou hast begun,
and what thy Spirit has awakened us to ask in prayer.
We seek thy face,
turn thy face unto us and show us thy glory.
Then shall our longing be satisfied,
and our peace shall be perfect.
(Augustine, 354 – 430)
