Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that this week’s message finds You well and prosperous.
This week I’d like to reflect on our animals. On our pets, who are part of the family. On our working animals, who provide us with income and nourishment. And on the wildlife that surrounds us and keeps our environment going. It is our pleasure at this time of year to welcome pets into the church and I always enjoy seeing the dogs, cats and rabbits. Fortunately the event is well organised and so the predators are well separated from the prey (I hope this may long continue).
While I wish You a wonderful week ahead and wish You and Your loved ones all the best as autumn descends upon us, I urge You to take a short while to ponder the animals, and to utter the short prayer below. God Bless.
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures!
