A Prayer for the Sick

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and healthy. If You or loved ones have been struck down by the Coronavirus or any other illness, it is for You that I have included today’s prayer.

This week I realised that We have become increasingly immune to the daily death toll announced by Government ministers at the start of their daily briefing. The numbers seem distant and foreign. The deaths are likely happening in care homes and to people who we do not know. The Death Map issued by the newspapers shows few deaths in our area. It is the deaths in London and in the cities which make up the most deaths and We get on with life in our bubble. Yet the pain that there is out there and the numbers of people who are currently sick from the virus are high. The grieving, I can assure You, is ubiquitous.

Love is empathy for others. If You are holed up in your house and garden and enjoying time spent with the children, then please take time every now and again to feel for our fellow countrymen who are experiencing deep pain and loss. We are one country. We are all under attack from the same enemy.

I wish You all well and I pray for God’s peace in Your household. God Bless You all.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We pray that you lift our worries from our minds, and place in our hearts the enormity of your love. We ask that you give courage, strength and hope to those who are sick, and to their families and friends. Please bless the hands and hearts of all those who work in the hospitals, care homes and on the front line.
