A Prayer for Honesty

VICAR

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and enjoying the cooler days after the heatwave.

This week I would like You to consider Your honesty. Are you a truthful person or a liar? Are You true to Yourself or are You someone who never quite faces up to their weaknesses and dishonesty?

The Bible is clear about honesty:

‘Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out’

“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.” (Proverbs 12:22)

“Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is crooked in speech and is a fool.” (Proverbs 19:1)

May these scriptures on honesty encourage you to be truthful in your life. Harken to the wisdom and warnings of God’s word.

As We watch the Tory leadership election with just Sunak and Truss left standing, We must hope for more honesty from our political leaders than has been shown in the recent past. Let Us pray that people learn to be more honest and that consequently We all feel less let down.

I wish You a peaceful Sunday and a good week ahead. God bless You all.

Father, we want the joy and peace that comes with the gift of integrity.
We know that the path of integrity is revealed in your Word.
Today we confess that we have strayed from that path and followed our own way instead.
Fill our hearts and minds with the truth of your Word. Guide us by your faithful instructions.
May each step we take along a path of integrity bring us greater joy.
Amen
