A Prayer for Our Leaders

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well. I hope that You are having an excellent Coronation weekend so far. God Save King Charles III.

This week I would like You to pray for our leaders. That they may grow wise and manage well. Also, that they may come to serve their people in humble and righteous ways. It is not easy to lead and there are plenty of examples throughout History of erroneous leaders, as well as evil people who came to power. Let the good rise from us to lead and be examples, pristine in their morals.

The Bible talks of how a leader serves. In Matthew 20:25-28, Jesus tells His disciples that leaders should not exercise authority over people. Instead, whoever wants to become great must lower himself to be a servant. Leaders realise that serving others is the only way to lead with a pure heart, free of pride and arrogance.

Romans 12:3–8 contains a very good passage:

“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”

I wish You a good week ahead and happy times. God Bless You All.

Father, we also ask that You give our leaders courage so that even when it’s hard, they would continue to boldly represent their constituents’ needs and those of the most vulnerable. Amen
