A Prayer for Our Farmers

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and having a relaxing weekend.

I know that weekends and holidays do not count for farmers. They are always at work and, judging by an editorial in this magazine last Thursday, they are having a tough time of things right now, so particularly deserve Our support and prayers. If farmers are stressed, this means their families are stressed, and their co-workers and suppliers are also stressed, so please remember them too this week in Your prayers.

1 Corinthians 3:9
“For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

In this passage, Paul is reminding us that we are working together with God in his service – all of us have a role to play in furthering His kingdom. He is particularly emphasising the work performed by farmers, describing them as “God’s field” and thus their hard work could be seen as an act of worship. It is important to understand that no matter what job or occupation one might do, it can become an act of love and obedience towards our Creator if done for His glory. Thus, when someone works hard on their farm or garden – striving for excellence despite the challenges presented by nature – they honour God with their labour and demonstrate courage in the face of adversity.

God Bless You All. Have a productive and successful week ahead.

Loving God We pray for the farming community as they continue to work hard to bring us food. Bless them as they sow crops and care for livestock. Surround them with your love so they may know they are cared for and valued. Amen
