VICAR
As the soil rests beneath a veil of frost, our hearts turn with quiet gratitude to those who labour upon it. In our fields, barns, and woodlands, there are many whose hands are worn with the work of stewardship, whose resolve is tested by the uncertainty of wind and weather. For them, and for the families whose lives are woven into this ancient calling, the season is one of both completion and watchful waiting. This week, Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, let us hold in our thoughts these steadfast keepers of our countryside.
We remember those whose toil is measured not by the clock, but by the task; whose reward is not always in the bounty, but in the dignity of the work itself. Grant them, we pray, strength for the long day and peace for the weary evening. Bless the work of their hands – the mended fence, the tended flock, the harvested field – and let it be a testament to their faithful care. Shelter them from the bitterness of the cold and the weariness of the spirit. Be with those who face the quiet worry of a thin harvest or a struggling stock. In the loneliness of a distant field or the deep quiet of a winter’s dusk, may they feel a companionship that sustains. May they find small mercies – in the warmth of a morning brew, the loyalty of a working dog, the first clear star of evening – constant reminders that You are the Lord of all seasons, near to those who nurture Your creation. And within the fellowship of this rural fold, may Your providence be known, and Your care made tangible. Amen.
God bless You all.
Have a good week.
