Because you don’t want it, thus I have to get educated
Because you don’t consider me an equal, thus I have to get educated
Because my dreams need wings, thus I have to get educated
Because I am girl, so I have to get educated.
I don’t need to wander, so I have to learn
I wish to be independent, so I have to earn
I have to fight my inner-demons, so I have to learn
I have to be my own provider, so I have to learn
Because I a woman, so I have to learn
I have to protest wrong, so I have to get educated
I need to make the law, so I have to learn
I have to be the change, so I have to be educated
Winds of Change call out to me, so I need to yearn
Yearn to be the light in the dark
Yearn to be the fire from a spark
A spark that kindles the blaze of change
A spark that gives me no look strange
A spark that may call me a rebel
A light that casts me in a different spell
A spell of knowledge that I will be known-by
A spell of wisdom that makes me no-longer shy
A spell of change that honours me for being a woman
A spell of that adds to my identity as a woman
And do achieve this magical spell…I need to get educated
Will you honour my will?
No, perhaps you won’t
So I am out with My Wings & My Quill
To take on the World, with my sheer Will
Because I am a Woman, who needs to get educated.
