It is in the best interests of the country to continue to expose the anti-Semites who flourished under Jeremy Corbyn’s (for want of a better word) leadership of the Labour Party. Having publications such as the Jewish Chronicle expose anti-Semites like the toxic Bristol University professor David Miller and the lunatic Editor of The Canary, Kerry-Anne Mendoza, is beneficial but not sufficient. These people need more public exposure from mainstream sources – their defence of bigoted ideological stances smashed – so that there can be little chance of a political revival of anti-Semitism in the UK and so that those on the left and right who succumb to antisemitic conspiracy theories comprehend who the whack jobs they are following really are.
As for Miller, why are Bristol University employing this cheap troll after the boards of Bath and Strathclyde are relieved to be shod of him? Are Bristol University’s paying students – or their parents – aware that the Political Sociology tutor in the University’s School for Policy Studies is a smear-merchant and a bigot with a history of using his impressionable young students to further the cause of Britain’s extreme Left? Who would ever want to employ anyone with a degree from that now contaminated department?
Tragically, Miller blames Corbyn’s annihilation at the ballot box on a “witch-hunt”. In an online broadcast hosted by former Labour MP Chris Williamson, entitled ‘Debate on the contents of and fallout from the #LabourLeaks document’ Miller claimed: “That to me was one of the key reasons why Corbyn was sunk. There was such a lack of understanding of Zionism, of the Zionist movement, of the Israel lobby which goes along with that and how it was to argue that particular things were antisemitic.” Miller went on to suggest tinfoilesquely that an “alliance” between MI5 and the Zionists may have helped in the propaganda war against Corbyn as if the country is somehow comprised of reds like him, rather than proud and pragmatic Brits who – using their own wits and wisdom – can see through the dangers of socialist heroin when offered a free vote with which to prove so.
The good news is that dangerous anti-Semites like Miller can be counted in double figures in the UK. Many of those who were actually expelled from Labour for antisemitism had little knowledge or understanding of Israel or the Holocaust and were low-level Labour activists who strayed into the wrong groups on Facebook – those less likely to kick up a storm when they were booted out of the party. Academics like Miller, who have hovered around Labour’s fringes of late, have no excuse. Other academics who popped up as antisemitic Corbynites when the Marxist Christmas tree illuminated during December’s shellacking are already on Sir Keir Starmer’s hitlist no doubt.
As Starmer seeks to cut out the racists from his party, he would do well to learn from King Solomon’s approach to binary decisions and should turn to the first book of Kings, Chapter 3:
Two mothers living in the same house, each the mother of an infant son, came to Solomon. One of the babies had died, and each claimed the remaining boy as her own. Calling for a sword, Solomon declared his judgment: the baby would be cut in two, each woman to receive half. One mother did not contest the ruling, declaring that if she could not have the baby then neither of them could, but the other begged Solomon, “Give the baby to her, just don’t kill him!” The king declared the second woman the true mother, as a mother would even give up her baby if that were necessary to save its life.
A simple letter to those suspected of antisemitism, or to all Labour Party members and activists, shall suffice:
You claim to be a true Labour member and our records show you are a paid-up member. Do you a) agree to abide by the IHRA definition of Antisemitism as stipulated below – democratically adopted by the Labour Party – and never behave in an antisemitic way? Or b) do you think that the IHRA definition is faulty, but you still claim to be a true Labour Member?
All those that go for b should be expelled. Simple. Antisemitism is a contagious virus – you’ve either got it or you have not. There is no place for Anti-Semites in British politics. Super spreaders like Miller need ostracising and denuding – fast.
