Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and healthy. I hope that Your families are likewise well and that You are enjoying a peaceful Sunday.

Alas, the same cannot be said for Ukraine. It comes as little shock that Vladimir Putin has taken up the role of Hitler of our age. The widespread international condemnation will hopefully morph into a solution that checks his brazen criminality.

So, this Sunday let us pray for Ukrainians and also for those Russians who condemn their President’s actions in Ukraine. Let reason and light overcome stupidity and darkness.

Matthew 10:28 

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Lord, please hear our prayer this day. God Bless You all. Have a fine week to come.

Holy and Gracious God

We pray for the people of the Ukraine and the people of Russia; for their countries and their leaders.

We pray for all those who are afraid; that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear.

We pray for all those who have the power over life and death; that they will choose for all people life, and life in all its fullness.

We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek for peace.

We pray for leaders on the world stage; that they are inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ.

Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace for Ukraine.

And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son.

Lord have mercy.
