VICAR
Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and either enjoying or abiding the current heatwave.
In a week when our Prime Minister has resigned, it seems only fitting that We pray for leadership this Sunday.
What did Jesus say about leadership? In fact He was very clear and useful about the subject:
But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28
I doubt You will see many of the current Tory leadership candidates offering themselves to be Your slaves but You get the picture.
Good leaders practice and value integrity:
Righteous lips are the delight of kings,
And they love him who speaks what is right.– Proverbs 16:13
We live in hope.
God Bless You all this week. Have a peaceful Sunday and a productive week to come.
Dear Father, I pray for all leaders of Your people. I pray that they will not lead selfishly, for personal ambition or vain conceit. That leading is really a task that requires them to serve. Amen
