VICAR
Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well and staying out of trouble, neither attending any riots nor urging innocents to set fire to their heads for banking at Barclays.
This week I would like You to think of how You can be more just. Also to think of how You can support others who are striving for justice.
Romans 12:19 is clear: “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Leave vengeance to God, as He will find a way to right wrongs and deal with perpetrators. But does that mean that fighting for justice in our lives is a waste of time?
Not at all.
Jesus was clear about human law in Matthew 5:17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. Therefore We can presume that where a wrong or multiple wrongs have been perpetrated in the eyes of the law and the perpetrator is yet to be brought to justice, it is our duty to intercede and assist the authorities if We can do so.
There is plenty of evil in this world. There are people alive today who behave appallingly, sewing fear and engaging in acts of terrorism against innocents. There are those who are too scared to go to the police to inform about them – others who have family caught up in the evil.
Let us pray for them that they find strength and that the authorities reject corruption and political bias within their own ranks to deliver justice for innocents.
God bless You all. Have a great week to follow and stay out of trouble (and out of the way of the thought police too).
Lord Jesus Christ, our only comfort, our hope, our righteousness, our strength and sure defense, kindle in our hearts a desire, hunger and thirst for the eternal food of the soul, your true body and blood, that we may gladly and frequently receive the sacrament, knowing our sins, but relying on you to strengthen and assure us until life’s journey ends and we come to you in our heavenly homeland to see you face to face and dwell with you through all eternity. Amen
