A Prayer for the Farmers

VICAR

We lift our hearts to You today, mindful of those whose labour is written upon the land. Lord, Creator of seedtime and harvest, we ask Your blessing upon our farmers, the steadfast stewards of our countryside.

Grant them strength for the long days and patience for the seasons that unfold in Your time, not ours. Bless the work of their hands—the ploughing and the sowing, the tending and the reaping. Protect them from the perils of their toil, and shield their livelihoods from the uncertainties of weather and market.

In the quiet chill of the dawn milking and the dusty heat of the harvest field, be their constant companion. Grant them a deep wisdom to read the soil and the sky, and resilience in the face of trials that are beyond their control. Bless the beasts in their care, may they be healthy and content.

We give thanks for their dedication, which brings food to our nation’s table. For those who feel the weight of this vocation, grant them solace and support. May they know the profound gratitude of a community that relies on their sacrifice and skill. Amen.

May the land yield its increase, and may they be blessed for their faithfulness.
