Sunday Prayer

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You and Your families are well, that You are staying occupied and healthy. If You are one of the key workers, please take special care. You must stay safe. Covid 19 is a virus that We should really seek to avoid, almost as if it were dreamt up in a laboratory by those with evil intent. If Your family is grieving, You are in my prayers and I ask for God’s strength for You in Your time of sorrow.

Let’s try and look on the bright side of life if We can. I know some of You are stuck in towns and cities and are going stir crazy in the small spaces You inhabit. You do not deserve to be imprisoned, at least most of you do not! Please try to use this time positively and to be stronger than Your worries. Be introspective and ask Yourself how You can change Your ways positively after the virus is vanquished. Rise up against negativity and know that Your obeying the lockdown is saving lives. You should be proud of this fact alone. How would You feel, as an asymptomatic Covid 19 carrier, knowing You wiped out the lives of dozens of people in Your neighbourhood? Please think of others.

Proverbs 17:22 “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Since You have access to the Web You also have access to the scriptures and I recommend You read the following passages to keep Your spirits up:

Philippians 4:8, Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalm 34:17, Psalm 40:1-3, Psalm 3:3, Psalm 32:10, Psalm 42:11, 1 Peter 5:6-7, John 16:33, Romans 8:38-39, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 1, Peter 4:12-13, Psalm 37:23-24 & Isaiah 41:10.

Please also try to imagine something You will do when the lock-down finishes. Who will You go to visit and hug? What beer will You have pulled for You at the local pub? What great ambition will You seek to fulfil? Having a dream of what You will do when You regain Your freedom should give You sustenance and ensure Your good mental health at this time. Look after those in Your household and treasure them. If You are alone, look after Yourself.

I pray for You all. God Bless You. Here is a positive prayer for You:

The world turns, The sun rises, The birds sing, The dawn breaks. The beauty of your creation, Unfolds afresh, bathed in light! I give you my life, I notice my breath, I appreciate the comfort of nourishment. I soak up the light of a new day Full of possibility and joy. Thank you Lord!
