A Prayer for Spring

VICAR

Dear Readers of Country Squire Magzine, I trust that You are Your families are well and that You are having a joyful and relaxing weekend. The snowdrops and daffodils are either out or emerging and as I write this I see more than an hour of sunshine for the first time in many days. This week then let us look forward to Spring.

It is always Springtime in the heart that loves God. Springtime is a season of optimism and hope, and Christians enjoy a faith centred on hope. Winter with its cold and dark days has gone just as Good Friday has passed to Easter and beyond. We live a resurrection life reflected in the new life springing up around us. We should be thankful for the hope and renewal that you bring both to this world and to our hearts and lives.

James 5:7

Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.

As We look at the news from Ukraine and face up to rising costs back home in our own country it is easy to become despondent. Instead let us look forward with optimism. Spring is around the corner. Summer shall follow. Let us persist with hope and love in our hearts.

God bless You all this Sunday. Have a peaceful Sunday and an excellent week ahead.

In the lengthening of days,
Snowdrops emerging,
from winter’s frozen ground,
We see the Creator’s hand.

In the sight of a tiny lamb
joyfully bounding
across hillside farm
We see the Creator’s hand.

Creator God, forgive our moments of ingratitude,
the spiritual blindness that prevents us
from appreciating the wonder that is this world,
the endless cycle of nature,
of life and death and rebirth.

Open our eyes to see,
our lips to praise,
our hands to share,
and may our feet tread lightly
on the road that, together, we travel.
