Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust that You are well this Sunday and enjoyed getting reacquainted with the Sun again yesterday.

Lambing this year has been a struggle. Heavy rainfall has had a devastating impact on lambing and also on crops. If lambs do not have dry ground to lie on, hypothermia often affects newborns and can be fatal. Word from farmers is that they are struggling this year and deaths are much higher than usual.

Lambing is a family affair. Farmers enlist their families to get through the lambing season. Tough seasons affect the whole family from parents through to children.

For ewes, with their own wisdom; for their strength and care as mothers: We thank you, Lord of all. For lambs, for the miracle of their birth, and for the bounding joy of their young life: We thank you, Lord of all.

Also, let us pray for the farmers and their families:

For health and happiness in the home life of all farmers, and for families to work together with love, respect and harmony, Lord, hear our prayer. For wise financial planning, land care and asset management, so that farmers may be confident about the future of their farms, Lord, hear our prayer.
