VICAR
Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, I trust this finds you in good heart as the season turns. This week, let us pray for the land and those who work it, for a successful harvest despite the many pressures they face.
Heavenly Father, Creator of sun and rain, we lift to You our farmers and growers. We pray for the harvest that lies in the fields—a promise of provision yet vulnerable to the whims of weather, the blight of disease, and the shadow of financial strain. Lord, You are the God who “crowns the year with Your bounty” (Psalm 65:11), whose faithfulness is etched into every seed and every shoot. We pray for Your blessing upon the soil. Where the earth has been parched, send gentle, sustaining rain; where it has been sodden, grant warmth and light. Protect the crops from pestilence and rot, and grant wisdom to those who steward the land, that they may work in harmony with Your creation. Lord, be their strength. For those weighed down by anxiety over rising costs and falling prices, grant them peace and practical support. For those labouring from dawn till dusk, renew their energy and shield them from harm. For whom the farm is not just a business but a heritage, remind them that their work is seen and honoured by You. We ask for Your divine provision. Stir the hearts of this nation to value the food on our plates and the hands that brought it there. Where markets are uncertain, be their security. Where spirit falters, be their encouragement. May they feel Your presence in the rustle of the barley and the fragrance of the earth, a constant promise that their labour is not in vain. Amen.
May all who work the land take heart in Your assurance: “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy” (Psalm 126:5).
God bless you, Dear Readers, and may we never take for granted the bounty we receive. Have an excellent week to come and a peaceful, stress-free Sunday.
