VICAR
Dear Readers of Country Squire Magazine, this week I’d like to offer a prayer top those who produce this magazine. Over the years there have been prayers for almost everyone else. Now we should focus on our own, so to speak:
Heavenly Father, Creator of rolling hills and quiet valleys,
We, the faithful readers and stewards of Country Squire, gather our thanks.
We give thanks for the rhythm of the seasons that guides our hands and hearts;
For the scent of turned earth in spring, the heavy hum of summer,
The crisp abundance of autumn, and the silent rest of winter.
Bless this magazine, we pray, as a true reflection of this life.
May its pages forever honour the solidity of ancient stone walls,
The wisdom in a weathered hand, the steadfastness of good stock,
And the simple elegance of a well-kept gate.
Grant its writers clarity to see the truth in a hedgerow’s story.
Grant its photographers the light to capture the frost on a cobweb.
Grant its readers the joy of a shared understanding, and the resolve to preserve what is good.
Instill in us all a spirit of careful stewardship:
To tend our land with respect, to uphold the dignity of craft,
To cherish village church and local pub in equal measure,
And to pass on a heritage richer than we found it.
As we seek the quiet assurance of a well-ordered estate,
May we also seek a well-ordered soul.
In the peace of a long walk with a faithful dog,
In the satisfaction of a task done properly,
Find us, and keep us, and make us grateful.
For the deep roots, the strong ale, the loyal companions, and the hope of a good harvest,
We offer our gratitude.
Amen.
Have a lovely week.
May God bless You all.
