There is a peculiar madness sweeping through Britain’s polling stations. While the country frets over the usual inadequacies of Labour and the Conservatives, a far more insidious force has crept up on the inside. The Green Party, once a harmless receptacle for earnest students and angry pensioners, is now within striking distance of power. And its programme is not merely eccentric. It is a recipe for national self-destruction.
Let us speak plainly about the one issue that trumps all others: the border. The modern Green movement has abandoned any pretence of environmental stewardship in favour of a fanatical commitment to open gates. Their vision does not describe controlled migration. It describes abolition. Every new arrival, they argue, is effectively a citizen-in-waiting, entitled to the full suite of British welfare, healthcare and the franchise from the moment they set foot on the tarmac. The inevitable arithmetic is terrifying. Within a single decade, we would be looking at nearly four and a half million extra souls on a small island. This is not immigration policy. This is a demographic revolution conducted without a single vote.
One does not need to speculate about the consequences. We have a living laboratory in Germany. When Angela Merkel opened the doors in 2015, the progressive chorus applauded. The statistics that followed have been quietly buried by the same crowd. By 2021, those seeking asylum made up just 2.5 per cent of the population yet accounted for over 13 per cent of sexual assault suspects. Gang rapes approached two a day. Knife crime in major regions tripled. Even Berlin’s own police chief admitted that street violence was overwhelmingly the product of young, non-German males. These are the fruits of open borders. And the Greens propose to replicate that disaster at four times the velocity, in a country already riddled with Iranian intelligence networks and repeated terrorist plots.
But the lunacy does not stop at the shoreline. The party’s internal catechism now includes the legalisation of heroin and crack cocaine. It demands the abolition of immigration detention and a blanket amnesty for every failed asylum seeker. It would scrap the Prevent programme just as MI5 warns that the domestic threat has never been more tangled.
The Church of England would be disestablished, severing a constitutional anchor that has held for half a millennium. Meanwhile, the party’s own WhatsApp channels have been allowed to fester with language describing Jews as an abomination, while conference delegates bicker over whether Zionism is a form of racism.
Imagine the Britain that emerges from a single term of this experiment. A population swollen beyond recognition. Borders reduced to a memory. Hard drugs available on the high street. Jewish students driven from campus. And the state voluntarily blinded, having defunded the very units that monitor the Iranian threat.
Labour, for all its current kakistocracy, is merely incompetent. The Green Party is not incompetent. It is zealous. Replete with watermelons; many expert at claiming benefits. It has a quarter of a million members, the largest youth wing in Europe, and a generation of activists who have been taught to call this madness enlightenment. It knows exactly what it wants. And it is terrifyingly close to getting it.
Hold onto something solid. What comes next will make today’s struggles look like a golden age.
Vote Green. Get civil war.
